It seems the use of bows as hair accessories first became popular in the early 18th century during the Victorian Era (1837-1901), however, the hair bow really begins to carve it’s niche in fashion history during the Edwardian Era (1901-1910). Hair styles in the 18th century could be extraordinarily elaborate. The really fancy hair styles were, of course, worn by European aristocrats, both men and women.
